Los Cabos, Baja California sur ::::
This past June Dad and I went to Los Cabos, Mexico for a week. We went sailing; snorkeling; ATV riding in the desert and along the pacific coast of the peninsula; Wave riding in the Sea of Cortez (note: I took my camera on the wave rider. Super risky but worth it.); watched a few soccer games in downtown Cabo among a couple of the local teams; Ate at a real deal local restaurant that served the good stuff away from the touristy scene; and enjoyed the culture especially that of San Jose, a small city up the coast from Cabo that has retained much of it’s colonial/old world character and aesthetic. It was one of those unique opportunities for one on one time with Dad for which I was thankful . The following is one of my journal entries for the week written en route to Chicago, the one layover on our way back to Philly. Enjoy! BH

Corona has now in my mind become synonymous with Mexico as it seems to
be the “cerveza” of choice. That and also the fact that there is a
factory right next to the Los Cabos aeropuerto and was the first thing
besides arid desert that I saw as we prepared to land on Monday.I gained an appreciation this week for the dessert and for those who live there.
It will be get hotter in Baja California as the summer goes on from what I hear.
My Spanish speaking abilities or at least the words and phrases I know are
becoming second nature and I will no doubt be using it for some time.
It would be awesome to be fluent in at least one foreign language. One day maybe.
It was somewhat annoying throughout the entire week when I would fish in my
memory banks for the proper Spanish word in a given situation and
only Bosnian or French would come to mind. Go figure. After a week of
expensive food and Mexican cuisine all I really wanted to eat is pizza.
I ate good…It’s just time for some tomato sauce…

Great pics! The trip looked fun. I like the one of you (I think?) on the 4-wheeler!

Thanks much! Yup that was me. Dad in the background. Was a definitely a fun trip and quite an experience.
Estam muy lindas la fotos.
Muchos gracias, mi amigo!
I knew these would be stunning. I was right! Perhaps my favorite is the 7th one down–the cactus. That’s a neat one to frame and hang! You seemed to capture the culture well (looks very different/more beautiful than Juarez, where I went on a mission’s trip.) I know what you mean about other languages coming to mind instead of THE language you need to speak (that’s been happening to me in Italy! I said “gracias” by accident today. woops. I keep thinking of spanish words to say instead of Italian.) alllllso, I laughed at your comment about needing more sauce on your pizza. Oddly enough, all the pizza I’ve had here in Italy is INCREDIBLY different than what we know in the U.S. Very little sauce–if any!
Great post! (That totally doesn’t look like you on the ATV!!)
Wonderful photos! My Dad lives down there, now I’m itching to go see him.
Wow! You’ve definitely piqued my interest in Los Cabos/Baja with these photos.
My husband and I love taking mini-vacations to various spots in California on random weekends…this is now on my list. Fun!
Thanks and yes it’s definitely a unique place! Not sure where you are located but it’s only a two hour flight from LA. Worth it for sure!
like, interest go to there..
